Howrah: The youth committee of Church Of Our Lady Of Happy Voyage organized a two-day Summer Camp for the children of the parish on 20th and 21st May in the school hall from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. It is the fifth summer camp the theme being “Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. Rom 13:8” . The hall was filled to capacity of around 35 on the first day and going beyond 40 on the final day. The camp started with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by the Fr. Victor David (parish priest), Mr. Raymond Baptist (secretary of the council), Andrilla Peterson (president of the youth committee) and Philip Minz (Vice President). We were fortunate to have Fr. Rodney to give a session on the first day on three different forms of Love namely; Agape, Phelia, Eros. Later the children were divided into groups for performing different activities throughout the summer camp.
A session by Sr. Gulab from the S.C.C was arranged on the second day. She preached about the significance of The Bible in our life. The camp consisted of many activities like fruit salad, treasure hunt, a movie named “Moana” was shown, a band performance by “The Desert Voice”. A video was shown to the children compiled of their own photos doing activities like playing cricket and participating in different events of the church. Finally we ended with a prize distribution ceremony and a few words of encouragement by Mr. Raymond Baptist.
